Beijing (July 27)--Ministry of Commerce hosted the National Meeting of Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone. Encouraging competent Chinese enterprise to establish economic and trade cooperation zone in foreign countries was an important move to expand the reach of Chinese economy, Minister Bo said during the meeting.
Bo pointed out that, while establishing cooperation zone in foreign countries, Chinese enterprises should strictly comply with the laws and regulations of the target country, assume necessary social obligations, and contribute to the economic growth and employment of local society. The cooperation zone should take advantage of the ¡°group effect¡± by attracting promising enterprises to invest in the zone, and provide sound management and service for Chinese enterprises, particularly SMEs. The Central Government would give policy and service support for the establishment of cooperation zones.
Representatives from local governments and enterprises expressed their enthusiasm for establishing foreign cooperation zone, which reduces their anxieties concerning foreign investment and is likely to bring about scale effect.
Vice-Minister Wei Jiangguo and Minister Assistant Chen Jian attended the meeting.
